Who Should Play
BOO and BOTS are the best place to put your skills to the test and learn from Splunk experts. Regardless of your Splunk ability, whether you're new to Splunk or a self-appointed expert, you’ll spend time working through fun problems while networking with your peers.
Registered .conf21 attendees are invited to join the newest version of BOO, a capture-the-flag-esque game with a focus on Splunk’s IT and observability product suites. Gamers will race against the clock to solve real-world, real-time incidents. You will assume the role of Ace, who just got a new position as site reliability engineer (who wears many IT hats) at Splunk T-Shirt Co. That’s right, Ace got a new job offer that they couldn’t refuse and, while the new job comes with a lot of t-shirt perks, it comes with a lot of the typical IT headaches too. You will use your Splunk skills as you navigate through different episodes and challenges for monitoring your cloud environment, investigating outages and triaging incidents using advanced alerting, event analytics and anomaly detection. Get on the leaderboard and earn your team bragging rights — or just learn something new and have fun along the way.
You and your team will assume the role of Ace, Splunk T-Shirt Co.’s new site reliability engineer and IT/observability guru. You will need to monitor, triage, remediate and resolve a variety of P1, P2 and P3 episodes (AKA incidents and outages). You'll also deep dive into brand-new, real-world datasets using Splunk's IT and observability platforms.
As always, there are many paths to victory, and time is of the essence. You and your team will need to solve as many episodes as you can while earning points and having fun.
